  • Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield is an Indian motorcycle brand based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Originally a British company, Enfield India was founded in 1901 as part of the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield, United Kingdom. In 1970, Enfield India became a separate company and continued to produce motorcycles at the original factory until 1985 when it was acquired by Eicher Motors Limited from the Government of India. Eicher Motors is now one of India’s largest manufacturers of tractors and commercial vehicles and also owns Royal Enfield.

 

The company manufactures two-wheelers under the Royal Enfield brand name. Its major products are Bullet and Classic 500 motorcycles which are produced in different variants with different engine displacements depending on customer requirements.

  • Lakme

Lakme is a cosmetics brand owned by Hindustan Unilever, a subsidiary of the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods company Unilever. Lakme was founded in 1935 by Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), which was established by the British industrialist J. N. Tata in 1911. The brand name “Lakme” was derived from the French word “La Chére Mére”, meaning “dear mother”. It was named after the daughter of J. N. Tata, who had died at a young age. 

The first Lakme product to be launched was the Lipstick Sticks and Lip Glosses in 1936, followed by Powder Puffs and Face Powders in 1937. In 1948, the brand added Eye Liners to its portfolio and these were followed by Mascaras in 1950. Lakme’s first nail polish range was introduced in 1951 with 12 shades under one shade code – Pink Bells. In 1957, Lakme became one of India’s first brands to launch a sun protection range with Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15 under one shade code – Yellow Duckies
